Hannah Yang is a Korean-Canadian Writer & Director from Vancouver, BC. As a second generation immigrant, Hannah has a deep passion for interlacing culture with identity. Her 2025 Crazy 8s pitch winner, Red Light Rebel, explores Korean-Canadian religious culture and has won Best BC Short Film award at Sundar Prize Film Festival and Best Director at Kelowna Independent Film Festival. Her slice-of-life drama, The Principles of Greenology—filmed with only five shots, was selected for Canada Shorts Film Festival, Hollywood Shortsfest, and a semi-finalist in the Cannes Indie Shorts Awards, solidifying her ability to tell powerful stories with carefully crafted visuals.

Heavily driven by musical storytelling, Hannah has directed music videos for Canadian artists, Teon Gibbs, Serena Sun, and Misha Eyre, blending her cinematic language with Hip-hop, R&B and Pop genres. She is also the Producer of The Man in the Rectangle, a Telus Storyhive hybrid documentary exploring the ethics of AI, which has screened at SXSW London and DOC NYC in 2025.

Hannah’s next directorial ventures include a feature-drama about immigrant divorce, 2025 Vancouver Queer Film Festival pitch winner, Pretty Boy$, and a sit-com series about competing Asian grocery stores, reflecting her ever-growing commitment to creating culturally relevant stories for the screen.
