Hannah Yang is an independent Korean-Canadian Writer & Director from Vancouver, BC. As a second generation immigrant, Hannah has a deep passion for interlacing culture with identity. Her work focuses on themes of self-reflection, culture, and human connection. Her most notable project thus far is her 2025 Crazy 8s Top 6 selection, ‘Red Light Rebel’, which is currently in its festival circuit.
Her first short film, 'Mama's Song', powered by an all-Asian cast and key creative team, was selected for Lift-Off Film Festival and Canada Shorts Film Festival. Also heavily driven by music storytelling, Hannah has directed music videos for Canadian artists, Teon Gibbs, Serena Sun, and Misha Eyre. She has also produced ‘The Man in the Rectangle’, a Telus Storyhive documentary which will be screening at SXSW London in 2025.
Hannah’s next directorial ventures include a feature-drama in development, and an experimental short about keloid scarring.
